Gardening

Hello
My Dear Gardening Friends,
You are receiving this somewhat
late for my computer decided to misbehave and not function -
I have just been dug out of the
huge snowfall that arrived overnight and most of today I hear that there is
still a lot more to come and this is March?
I am hoping that all will be
well next Thursday for a whole bus load is off to Canada Blooms; wouldn’t it
be dreadful if we missed it, because we are all snowed in once again? I have
cancelled yet another meeting for tonight, will it never end? The snow came
in November and stayed, so everyone is getting tired of removing snow, but
worst of all is where to put it since starting this news letter – I
discovered where the snow went – into my basement, along with all the
basements on this road, the lake rose and there it was – I did however make
use of the water – I put all those dried pots of “things” from last fall in
the water and not only did it give everyone a big drink but also helped to
“mop” up the water – someone hands you lemons so make lemonade !!!!
The Song of the Snowdrop Fairy
Deep sleeps the winter,
Cold, wet and grey;
Surely all the world is dead;
Spring is far away,
Wait! The world shall waken;
It is not dead, for lo,
The fair Maids of February
Stand in the snow!
- Cicely Mary Barker
I am afraid that we still have
no snowdrops to cheer us, but we gardeners are full of patience aren’t we?
Spring will come and then we all are happy. May I suggest that you go and buy
yourselves a pot of daffodils, for around $3 – this way you will at least get
a taste of spring.
April
the 15th and I have just got my computer back from the
“hospital”. The snow is going very quickly, I even have bare patches
and today the snow on the lake changed colour, can’t be too long
before the ice leaves and then the ground will start to warm up.
The crows are out of the woods and I have to confess that I have
been feeding them hamburger meat – I love my crows, they are so
disdainful of me, they walk around the property with the air of
ownership.
Good
gardening.
Lovingly
Beryl
